I have a confession to make…I haven’t been cooking much lately—a little of this and a little of that, but not how I normally cook. With my kitchen in disarray, and being in full summer break mode, I have been missing my regular need to get in the kitchen and develop something fun and delicious. We’ve been eating out more than usual, visiting the grandparents before sending the youngest off to college, and dealing with the never-ending ups and downs of home repairs that come with ownership and have nothing to do with the fun project of a kitchen renovation, and the fun stuff, packing for an epic trip. These are all the little things that make all of us lean on convenience foods, take-out, and restaurant dining.
While I haven’t been cooking much myself, I never stop dreaming of delicious things to eat, and at this very moment, I am writing this edition of Kitchen Gossip from a lovely Airbnb in the beautiful town of San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico. We have only been in Mexico for 3 days, but boy have they been delicious, and I cannot wait to share all of the delicious foods and drinks we enjoy during our 2 weeks in this absurdly beautiful, gracious, and vibrant country. A full account of our travels will be in the next newsletter, on September 15th. Until then I’ll leave a few mouth-watering pictures to give You something to dream about.
This weekend typically signals the end of summer break for our part of the world, and the new school year is about to kick off. Around the country, others have already started school, but this still signals the last hurrah of summer bar-b-ques and beach visits. If you are looking for something more interesting to serve and eat than the typical fare of hot dogs and hamburgers at your Labor Day soiree, I do love a good hot dog, don’t get me wrong. But, you also might still have giant amounts of zucchini lingering about, and I am still in my zucchini era. Might I tempt you with my Zucchini Fritters and a little Hatch Chili Aioli for dipping?
Zucchini Fritter and Hatch Chili Aioli Recipe
Enjoy every last dog day of summer, soak in the vitamin D, eat some hot dogs with friends, and make zucchini fritters to share.

It all looks and sounds so enticing! Enjoy your time in Mexico!
